Andrew Darren Elkins : The Totality of an Actor

 

COURSE DETAILS:
Within this workshop participants will be focusing on mind, body and voice; not as three separate elements but as one. To find true harmony between the body, mind and voice. This highly physical intensive training will place emphasis on the connection with ourselves, others and the physical, vocal and psychological strength of the performer. The workshop will allow participants the unique opportunity to grow and develop as actors through a dynamic, unique and intense physical practice with roots in the practice of Stanislavski, Peter Brook and Grotowski. This workshop will aid actors looking to develop their work on both stage and screen.
Participants can expect to work with:
– Text (monologues and a scene sent in preparation)
– Impulse work
– Rhythm Work
– Spatial Awareness training
– Acrobatics
– Support of partners and self

The workshop will work towards the elimination of “all organic and technical barriers, freeing oneself of all preconceptions and prejudices which could destroy the organic unity of the person in action” – Jerzy Grotowski.

It is important to note for participants that this will be a highly physical workshop, so please wear movement friendly clothes and bring water.

Keith Wallis : Unarmed Combat

COURSE DETAILS:

Keith Wallis works as a professional fight director and action performance tutor. He began teaching stage fighting at the National Youth Theatre back in 2007, followed by his first fight directing credit in 2008 for the stage production Sons of York at the Finborough.

Over the past fifteen years he has gone on to choreograph fights for a wide range of projects and productions across the UK, as well as teaching stage combat at some of the UK’s top acting schools and Universities, including LAMDA, Italia Conti, East 15 Acting School, Arts University Bournemouth, Falmouth University, and Trinity Laban Conservatoire.

Recent projects include choreography for Paines Plough, The Almeida, The Arcola and the Orange Tree, stunt coordination for the BAFTA nominated Lady Macbeth, starring Florence Pugh and historical weapons demonstration for Dan Snow’s History Hit series.

In 2018 he formed Master at Arms, a new organisation dedicated to developing and improving the teaching of action performance for theatre and film. You can find out more by visiting masteratarms.org
