Curriculum Structure

IDSA offers a complete, part-time actor training programme designed to help you reach your full potential. Students train two days a week across three 12-week terms each year, with rolling, term-by-term enrolment. While many actors continue beyond three years, we recommend a minimum of three years to experience the full breadth of our curriculum and performance opportunities.

Fresher Programme

Every actor who joins IDSA — whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced performer — begins with our Freshers programme.

You will be placed into one of these two training pathways:

– Under 19s Fresher Programme

– Adult Fresher Programme

The Freshers Programme develops your skills across a range of techniques while introducing you to the foundations of Identity Training. At the end of your second term, you’ll perform an assessed group In-House Presentation (IHP), which determines your placement within the Core Programme.

Core Training Programme

Our Core Training Programme delivers industry-leading training through an evolving curriculum at the forefront of film, TV, and theatre.

Students who successfully complete the Freshers Programme progress into the Core Training Programme (CTP), where the intensity of training increases. Alongside advancing your skills across a range of techniques, you’ll take part in Showcase, Zoomcase, and Filmcase performance opportunities.

Under 19s Core Training:

After successfully completing your IHP, you’ll progress into the Under 19s Core Training Programme. When you turn 20, you’ll move into the Adult Core Training Programme.
